Pastor Shyrone Richardson is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Truth Church, Jersey City, New Jersey, formerly known as World Outreach Christian Church.
In 1995, Pastor Shy gave his life to Christ and joined Zion Christian Center of Roxboro, NC. Under the leadership and tutelage of Reverends Danny and Teresa Johnson, Pastor Shy began his Ministerial training, and his passion for community service was also ignited. While at Zion, he served in many capacities including Minister of Music, Director of Outreach, President of the Performing Arts Ministry, New Members Instructor, Prison Ministry Team Leader, and Core Team Leader, just to name a few. On April 30, 2000 he became a licensed and ordained Minister of the Gospel.
In 2010, Pastor Shy moved back to Jersey City and founded World Outreach Christian Church, which quickly became a beacon of hope in Jersey City. In 2025, World Outreach Christian Church became Truth Church.
As a Community Leader, Pastor Shy was a lead organizer with Jersey City Together. He was also a member of the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance where he served as its Vice-President. Pastor Shy also founded Jersey City Pastors United, a multi-cultural and multi-denominational gathering of local Pastors and Church Leaders. At the height of the racial tensions that followed the death of George Floyd, Pastor Shy used this organization to host a rally entitled, “Heal Our Land.” This Prayer Rally was attended by members of Jersey City’s faith community, as well as other community activists, and city, county, and state government officials.
Pastor Shy has opened his church doors to host Expungement Seminars and has worked to help the formerly incarcerated as they return to society. He has also hosted many community meetings to hear, address, and advocate for residents of Jersey City and Ward F in particular. Now, Pastor Shy serves as President of World Outreach Christian Community Center where he will continue to spearhead social and economic change for the community through outreach programs, seminars, and workshops.
In 2022, Pastor Shy began working as a Staff Aide to the Mayor of Jersey City. In that role, he continued his work as an advocate and to help build bridges of communication, understanding, and resources between Jersey City and its residents, particularly the underserved. In 2023, he became the Director of Jersey City’s Housing Preservation Department. In that role, he continues to exercise leadership and vision in several vital departments: Rent Control Properties, Handling of Tenant/Landlord Relationships, Enforcing Short-Term Rentals, and Maintaining Abandoned and Vacant Properties.
In addition to leading his congregation, working for the city of Jersey City, and advocating for his community, Pastor Shy has a podcast entitled, “Can We Talk?” where he discusses social and cultural topics from a Biblical Perspective. He is an accomplished keyboardist, playwright, and songwriter. He has also penned a book entitled, Diary of a Son and is currently working on a book with his wife entitled, His Side, Her Side, The Truth.
Pastor Shy and his wife also have a Marriage Ministry entitled, “Marriage is Dope!” Together they conduct seminars, produce podcasts, and offer faith based counseling to strengthen and cultivate healthy marriages.
Co-Pastor Rebecca Richardson is a dynamic teacher of the Word. With a practical, yet profound approach, she ministers to men, women, and children. God is truly raising up an anointed vessel in Co-Pastor Rebecca for such a time as this. Over the past 15 years, she has served in many different capacities including, Ministry Leader of the Ushers, Greeters, and Guides; Ministry Leader of the Performing Arts Ministry; and Director of the Fish and Loaves Food Pantry, which served over 100 families on a regular basis.Currently, she is the Director of WOCC’s Women of Purpose Ministry and Kingdom Kidz Ministry.
Co-Pastor Rebecca is also a radio personality as Co-Host of “Rated R for Relationships,” a weekly, live internet radio show. Here, she shares practical insight on relationships with people across the nation. The performing arts is a gift and talent that Co-Pastor Rebecca uses to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ tolife. She has directed several gospel plays. She has also choreographed liturgical dance and mime ministries. As an accomplished actress, herself, she was featured in a one woman dramatic play entitled, “I Am Victory!” She has a great passion for young people, and worked as a Christian Educator at Zion Christian Academy for over 7 years. She holds an Associated in Arts degree, and is currently pursuing a degree in Middle School Education and Counseling. You’ll never find a warmer, more loving person than Co-Pastor Rebecca.
There is nobody that she would not reach out a helping hand. However, even a great person has heroes. Many people, including her husband; Spiritual parents, Pastors Danny and Teresa Johnson of Zion Christian Center; mother; and grandparents, have been a great influence on the values and high standards that Co-Pastor Rebecca lives by.
